Fibre count is one budget variable. Duration is estimated from the work method, actual node configuration and available working window, rather than a universal productivity rate.
Separate the activities
Break down cable preparation, planned splices, tray organisation, measurements, identification and closure. Installed fibre count does not necessarily equal the number spliced at every node.
State the estimating scenario
Budget example, not 3DELECTRO production data: assuming 1 and 4 crew-days per point for two alternatives creates an arithmetic difference of 60 crew-days across 20 points. These assumed durations must be validated before quoting.
Check the selected closure
Corning provides closure families for aerial, duct and buried applications, with different models and capacities. Check the proposed model’s data sheet and instructions; total fibre count alone does not determine selection.
Price downleads and branches
The drawing should specify downlead cables, protection, routes and lengths. Commercial availability is confirmed with the manufacturer or supplier for the required construction.
Compare equivalent offers
Request a breakdown by cable, splice point, fibres to be worked on, measurements and planned crew-days. Identify assumptions dependent on the reel plan, access or operator authorisation.
